Docked the final logo for the Portuguese Culture & Historical Center. Sailing inspiration from the SS Ravenscrag. Ravenscrag is the name of several ships, some being sailing vessels and some steamships. One of the sailing vessels is historically significant for bringing to the Hawaiian Islands in 1879 Portuguese immigrants who subsequently introduced the ukulele to island culture.
Sketched ideas from Portuguese culture and historical Azulejo & Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Azulejo is a form of Portuguese and Spanish-painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. Padrão dos Descobrimentos is located in Lisbon along the river where ships departed to explore and trade with India and the Orient. Which celebrates the Portuguese Age of Discovery (or Age of Exploration) during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Mission: To promote & preserve Portuguese Culture & values in Hawaii. That the sacrifices and innovation of the Portuguese immigrants, that journeyed to Hawaii in search of a better life, will be forever remembered.
